MoChiMu After Dark invites adults 18+ to unique after-hours events filled with unique activities, grown-up crafts, and community partner connections with a new theme every month! Ring in the Year of the Horse with MoChiMu After Dark: Lunar New Year – an after-hours cultural festival inspired by Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese traditions. Craft paper lanterns, create New Year shakers, practice traditional calligraphy, and add your wishes for a prosperous New Year to our wish tree. More details and partners coming soon!
MoChiMu After Dark: Artists' Loft
MoChiMu After Dark invites adults 18+ to unique after-hours events filled with unique activities, grown-up crafts, and community partner connections with a new theme every month! Unleash your inner nerd all while supporting MoChiMu’s mission to enrich the lives of all children by nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and a love of lifelong learning!
Whether you’re an amateur or an artiste extraordinaire, unleash your inner creative at MoChiMu After Dark: Artists’ Loft. This one-night-only after hours evening is your chance to experiment with the process of creativity. Paint, sculpt, and weave in hands-on experiences across the museum; enjoy snacks and sparkling water as you chill out in creative lounges, and much more.
Early Closure for Celebration of Lights Parade
Due to the Celebration of Lights Parade, the museumm will be closing early at 3:30. The Mercantile will remain open for glow-product purchases so you can light up the parade with MoChiMu—$5 gets you a glow-product to shine all night!
Share the Love ribbon Cutting
The Modesto Children’s Museum (MoChiMu) is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as the local partner for Subaru’s annual “Share the Love” event! To celebrate this exciting partnership and the beginning of the season of giving, MoChiMu and Subaru invite the community to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
Healing with Play with Jessica’s HOuse
This November, we’re joining the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and Jessica’s House to recognize Children’s Grief Awareness Month through the national initiative “Healing with Play.”
Join us on November 15, when Jessica’s House will be onsite to lead special activities designed to help children explore emotions and find comfort through creativity.

While the Modesto Children’s Museum undergoes a brief closure, we’re taking the joy of MoChiMu out into the community with 10 immersive, chalk art installations. Find where each installation will live and explore the museum's exhibits in a new way. We invite you to skip, jump, or twirl like the windmills and PLAY through the art—sparking curiosity, movement, and imagination for all ages. This is more than art, it’s a temporary playground that invites our community to interact, discover, and feel a bit of MoChiMu magic in their everyday spaces.
